OPENING HOURS

The usual opening hours for tours to the Royal Palace of Madrid are:

  • Monday to Saturday: open to the public from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. The last visit is at 18:00 h.
  • Sundays: from 10:00 to 16:00 hours. The last access is at 15:00 h.

Exceptionally, the schedule may be affected by special events or circumstances.

HOW TO GET THERE

You can easily visit the Royal Palace of Madrid from any part of the city. Here are some options:

  • On foot: if you are staying near Madrid’s city center, you can reach the Royal Palace on foot. It is a nice and short walk that will allow you to enjoy the historic center. From Puerta del Sol, for example, it takes just 25 minutes to get to the Palace.
  • Metro: you can take lines 2 and 5 and get off at Ópera station. Just a 2-minute walk away you will find yourself in front of the Royal Palace. Another option is to take line 10. You will only have to get off at Tribunal station and walk about 10 minutes along Bailén Street to get to the Palace.
  • Suburban train: Lines C1, C3, C7 and C10 will take you to Príncipe Pío station. From there, you can walk about 15 minutes to the Royal Palace or you can take bus 39.
  • Bus: Lines 39, 146, 148, 573 and 39 leave you at the Plaza de Oriente stop, right in front of the Royal Palace. Alternatively, you can take bus lines 25, 39 and 148, getting off at the Bailén – Plaza de la Independencia stop. A few steps away you will find yourself at the door of the Palace.
  • Hop on Hop off Madrid City Tour: you can take the Historical Route No. 1 and get off at stop No. 12 Puerta de San Vicente. You will find the main entrance to the Royal Palace just a 5 minute walk away.
